David is a reporter and audio producer based in Brooklyn, currently working on Bloomberg’s daily news podcast, Big Take.

Previously, he was a reporter and producer at the award-winning narrative podcast company, Gimlet Media, where he helped create the fourth season of Conviction.

He came to Gimlet from KUER, an NPR member station in Utah. While there, he was one of the reporters, producers and hosts of Sent Away, an investigative podcast focused on Utah’s ‘troubled-teen’ industry made in partnership with APM Reports and The Salt Lake Tribune. The series won the top prize at the 2022 Barlett & Steele Award for investigative business reporting, among other national and regional awards.

Prior to Sent Away, he opened KUER’s first Southwest News Bureau. The role took him all over Southern Utah, reporting on the news of the day and enterprise projects for a state-wide audience. In particular, his coverage on a proposed mining operation and an affordable housing crisis won national awards.

His work outside of KUER has covered everything from women’s surf contests in Morocco to anti-poaching efforts in South Africa, and has been featured on Morning Edition, All Things Considered, The WorldOutside Online and elsewhere.

When he’s not at his desk, you’ll most likely find him looking for surf at Rockaway Beach or thinking about his next trip back to Utah.
